how petzold and farocki are able to merge the melodramatic with a historical legacy [post-ww2 treatment of european jews serving as a major gateway for the creation of isr*el] that continues to reverberate throughout the current political climate within palestine, with nothing more than slight suggestion and master restraint, is one of the many reasons why this film is my favorite.
